Tonawanda Man Arraigned for Stabbing Another Man Outside Colvin Boulevard Tavern

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 29-year-old Zachery S. Meer of Tonawanda was arraigned yesterday before Tonawanda Town Court Justice Daniel T. Cavarello on one count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree (Class ā€œCā€ violent felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (Class ā€œAā€ misdemeanor).

It is alleged that on Sunday, June 11, 2023, 11:40 p.m., the defendant attempted to cause serious physical injuries to the male victim by stabbing him in the right upper torso with a knife. The alleged crime occurred during an altercation on the patio outside of a tavern on the 1800 block of Colvin Boulevard in the Town of Tonawanda. The victim, a 29-year-old male, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he was treated for the injury.

Meer is scheduled to return on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was released on his own recognizance.

If convicted of the highest charge, Meer faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Town of Tonawanda Police Department for their work in this investigation.  

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Pinelli of the Felony Trials Bureau and Assistant District Attorney William E. Szczepanski of the Justice Courts Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
