Rochester Woman Arraigned After Illegal Handgun Found in Diaper Bag at Downtown Circus

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 32-year-old Tenitia R. Cullum of Rochester was arraigned this morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Gary A. Wilson, Jr. on one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony).

It is alleged that on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at approximately 7:10 p.m., security officers and members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office found the defendant in possession of an illegal, loaded handgun at the KeyBank Center in the City of Buffalo. The illegal weapon was found inside of a diaper bag, allegedly being carried by the defendant, as the item went through the x-ray baggage scanner ahead of the entrance to a circus event being held at the arena.

Cullum is scheduled to return on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. She was released on bail set at $5,000 cash, bond or property.

If convicted of the charge, Cullum faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Erie County Sheriff’s Office for their work in this investigation.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
