Joint Investigation Results in Seizure of Illegal Guns and Suspected Narcotics

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Von D. Harmon, Jr., 34, was arraigned this morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Peter J. Savage, III, on the following offenses:

  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree (Class A-II felony)
  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the First Degree (Class B violent felony)
  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class B felony)
  • Eleven counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class C violent felonies)
  • Eight counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D violent felonies)
  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (Class D felony)
  • One count of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Class A misdemeanor)

The defendant was the subject of a multi-agency investigation. It is alleged that on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at approximately 5:57 p.m., the defendant was taken into custody during the execution of a search warrant at a residence on the first block of Madison Street in the City of Buffalo. During the search, investigators allegedly recovered a plastic bag that contained a quantity of suspected ecstasy pills and a quantity of suspected crack cocaine. The defendant is accused of possessing the suspected narcotic and suspected hallucinogenic substance with intent to sell. The suspected drugs and a scale were placed into evidence for analysis. 

It is also alleged that investigators recovered eleven illegal firearms in a bedroom of the residence. Eight of the weapons were allegedly equipped with large capacity ammunition feeding devices. The weapons were placed into evidence for further analysis.

Harmon is scheduled to return on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. Our prosecutor requested that the defendant be remanded. He was held without bail. 

If convicted of the highest charge, Harmon faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.

DA Keane commends members of the Buffalo Police Department Intelligence Unit, FBI Safe Streets Task Force, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the New York State Police for their work in this investigation. 

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
