Former Correctional Health Director Pleads Guilty for Falsifying Her Timecard

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 46-year-old Christa M. Cutrona of West Seneca pleaded guilty this morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Barbara Johnson-Lee on one count of Falsifying Business Records in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor).

Between December 30, 2021 and February 7, 2022, the defendant, while working as the Director of Correctional Health for the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, knowingly falsified her personal timecards and fraudulently collected approximately $1,200 in pay. The crime was uncovered following an internal audit. The defendant resigned from her position on July 15, 2022.

As a condition of the plea, Cutrona paid full restitution. The case was transferred to Mental Health Court.

DA Flynn commends the Erie County Sheriff’s Office for their work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Gary M. Ertel of the Public Integrity Unit.
