“The Erie County District Attorney’s Office assisted UB Police in obtaining a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order following an alleged on-campus threat by a student. The matter remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time. This incident highlights the importance of the Red Flag legislation, which aims to prevent tragedies by allowing law enforcement to proactively intervene and temporarily remove access to firearms through civil court action.
