Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Marcus Oluwa, Jr., 21, of no permanent address, pleaded guilty yesterday morning before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class C violent felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D felony). Oluwa entered a guilty plea to all counts in the indictment.
During the investigation into a non-fatal shooting that occurred in the Village of Sloan on Sunday, July 20, 2025, the defendant was found in possession of a loaded, illegal gun equipped with a large capacity magazine at a location in the City of Buffalo.
Oluwa faces a maximum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. He continues to be released on bail set at $100,000 cash or bond.
DA Keane commends the Cheektowaga Police Department, Buffalo Police Department and New York State Police for their work in this investigation.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Briana R.D. Kalman of the Major Crime Bureau.
