Defendant Pleads Guilty for Fatally Shooting Woman Inside Delaware Avenue Apartment

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 22-year-old Jamin Haygood of Buffalo pleaded guilty this morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony). 

On Saturday, May 27, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the defendant shot the victim in the head with an illegal handgun inside of an apartment building on the 2400 block of Delaware Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim, 51-year-old Jacquette Holley, died at the scene.  

Haygood faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. He remains held without bail. 

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in the investigation.  

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Ryan M. Flaherty and Nicholas C. Bussi of the Felony Trials Bureau as well as Chief Eugene T. Partridge, III of the Major Crimes Bureau.
