Cheektowaga Man Indicted for Recklessly Causing Death of His Toddler Son

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Jahmil A. Paisley, 31, of Cheektowaga, was arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Debra L. Givens on an indictment charging him with one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree (Class ā€œCā€ felony).

The defendant is accused of recklessly causing the death of his son. It is alleged that on Friday, October 18, 2024, at approximately 3:24 p.m., police and paramedics responded to an apartment on Slate Creek Drive in the Town of Cheektowaga after receiving a 911 call for an unresponsive child. The victim, 21-month-old Logan Paisley, was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital of Buffalo where he was pronounced deceased.

Paisley was held without bail. A return court date has not been scheduled at this time.

If convicted of the charge, Paisley faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

DA Keane commends Lieutenant Detective Justin Haag, Detective Jeffrey Fial and Officer Spencer Bruno of the Cheektowaga Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Ashley M. Morgan of the Major Crimes Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
