Chautauqua County Judicial Candidate Arraigned on Election Law Violations

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Sally A. Jaroszynski, 57, of Falconer, was arraigned this morning before Hamburg Town Judge Carl W. Morgan on two counts of Misconduct in Relation to Petitions, unclassified misdemeanors. One count was dismissed by our office due to proof problems.

It is alleged that on March 26, 2024, in the Town of Ellicott, Chautauqua County, while being a notary public, the defendant did sign and notarize a designating petition for the Conservative Party for Chautauqua County Family Court Judge, by acknowledging she witnessed a signature when she was not, in fact, present.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office was appointed as Special Prosecutor for this case due to a conflict of interest in Chautauqua County.

Jaroszynski is scheduled to return on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. for further proceedings. She was released on her own recognizance as the charge is a non-qualifying offense for bail.

Acting DA Keane commends the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division for their work on this case.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Gary Ertel of the Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
