Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Stacy M. Matthews, 40, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty before Buffalo City Court Judge Rebecca Town to one count of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A misdemeanors). Matthews entered the guilty plea on Friday, May 8, 2026.
On Thursday, October 16, 2025, at approximately 12:25 a.m., the defendant drove six juveniles under her care to a business on Lincoln Parkway in the City of Buffalo. The juveniles, between the ages of 10 and 16, intentionally vandalized outdoor furniture and windows, causing approximately $2,000 in damage to the property. The defendant, being charged with the care and custody of a child less than 18 years old, failed or refused to exercise reasonable control of such children to prevent them from becoming juvenile delinquents.
As a condition of the plea, Matthews signed a Confession of Judgment to pay $2,000 in restitution to the victim.
Matthews faces a maximum of 364 days in jail when she is sentenced on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. A temporary order of protection, issued on behalf of the property owner, remains in effect.
DA Keane commends Detective Ryan Nye and Detective Marc DiPasquale of the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney James L. Harrington of the Felony Trials Bureau.
