Buffalo Woman Arraigned for Fatally Stabbing Man During Domestic Violence Incident

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 21-year-old Teiyahna Bivens of Buffalo was arraigned yesterday morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Samuel Davis on one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony).

It is alleged that on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the defendant stabbed the victim, her boyfriend, in the chest during a domestic incident. The crime occurred on in the area of Gerhardt Street and Northampton Street in the City of Buffalo. The victim, a 23-year-old male, died from the injury a short time later at ECMC.

Bivens is scheduled to return on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. She was held without bail.

If convicted of the charge, Bivens faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.    

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rebecca L. Schnirel of the Homicide Unit.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
