Buffalo Man Sentenced for Fatally Shooting Woman Inside Delaware Avenue Apartment

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that 22-year-old Jamin Haygood, also known as “Scrap,” of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to 12 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision. He was sentenced today as a second violent felony offender. 

On Saturday, May 27, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the defendant shot the victim in the head with an illegal shotgun inside of an apartment building on the 2400 block of Delaware Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim, 51-year-old Jacquette Holley, died at the scene.  

Haygood pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony) on March 22, 2024. 

Acting DA Keane commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in the investigation.  

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Ryan M. Flaherty and Nicholas C. Bussi of the Felony Trials Bureau as well as Chief Eugene T. Partridge, III of the Major Crimes Bureau.
