Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Timothy A. Austin, 37, of Buffalo pleaded guilty yesterday afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony). The defendant pleaded guilty, as charged, to the sole count in the indictment.
On Sunday, June 11, 2023, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Buffalo Police officers responded to a 911 call for a reported stabbing on the 400 block of Niagara Street. The defendant stabbed the victim once in the chest. The victim, 49-year-old Tremaine Mayfield, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he died from the injury.
Austin faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. He remains held without bail.
