Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty to Felony Charges for Possession of Illegal Guns Found During "Red Flag" Search

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 55-year-old Sean M. Brown of Buffalo pleaded guilty yesterday before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to two counts of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class ā€œDā€ violent felonies).

On Saturday, November, 12, 2022, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Buffalo Police found the defendant in possession of two illegal weapons, a handgun and a rifle, while serving an Extreme Risk Protection Order at his home on Lincoln Parkway in the City of Buffalo.

Brown faces a maximum of 7 years in prison when he is sentenced on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. The defendant, who has been held on bail since November 2022, was released on his own recognizance pending sentence.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Intelligence Unit and SWAT for their work in this investigation.  

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Andrew S. Criado of the Felony Trials Bureau.
