Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty for Fatally Shooting Victim on Bailey Avenue

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that 23-year-old Ryan M. Crawford of Buffalo pleaded guilty this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Debra Givens to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony).

On Sunday, April 2, 2023, at approximately 2:25 a.m., the defendant shot the victim with an illegal handgun on the 800 block of Bailey Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim, 38-year-old Duryll Anderson, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he later died from the injuries. 

Crawford faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. He remains held without bail. 

Acting DA Keane commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in this investigation.  

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Justin H. Caldwell of the Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Briana R.D. Kalman of the Narcotics/Intelligence Bureau.
