Buffalo Man Extradited from Pennsylvania to Face Murder Charge for Killing His Girlfriend at Amherst Motel

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Daniel Negron, 37, of Buffalo, was returned on a warrant and arraigned this morning before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony).

It is alleged that between on or about Friday, July 25, 2025, and Saturday, July 26, 2025, the defendant intentionally caused the death of his girlfriend by stabbing her inside of a motel room on the 1900 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Town of Amherst. The victim, 27-year-old Emme-ya Sims, was found deceased on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the defendant was arrested following an incident in Erie, Pennsylvania. Negron was held custody on a bond for charges filed by the Erie Police Department as well as a fugitive warrant issued by the Amherst Police Department. After the defendant refused to waive extradition, our office obtained a Governor’s warrant, which was served upon the defendant at a bond hearing on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He remained in custody pending extradition to Western New York.

Negron is scheduled to return for a first appearance before State Supreme Court Justice Kelly Vacco on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. He was held without bail.

If convicted of the highest charge, Negron faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

DA Keane commends the Amherst Police Department, City of Erie (PA) Police Department and the Erie County (PA) District Attorney’s Office for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Rachel M. Vicario and Alexander J. Trunfio of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau and Chief Eugene T. Partridge, III, of the Homicide Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
