Buffalo Man Arraigned on Vehicular Manslaughter Charge for Crash in South Buffalo

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 38-year-old Paul D. McCaslin of Buffalo was arraigned on Tuesday morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Philip Dabney on one count of Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony) and one count of misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated.

It is alleged that on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at approximately 8:45 p.m., the defendant crashed his vehicle into several trees on McKinley Parkway leading to the death of Christopher Kleinbach.

McCaslin was scheduled to return today, March 23, 2023, for a felony hearing however it was rescheduled due to the defendant remaining at ECMC for medical treatment. Bail was set at $15,000 “A” or $40,000 “B” or “E” and was posted by the defendant.  

DA Flynn commends the work of the Buffalo Police Department for their work on this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bethany A. Solek of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
