Buffalo Man Arraigned for Sexually Abusing Victim

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that 22-year old, Hunter Saxbury of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Gary Wilson on charges of Attempted Rape in the First Degree (class “C” felony), Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (Class “D” felony), and Obstruction of Breathing (class “A” misdemeanor).

It is alleged that on Monday, April 8, 2024, the defendant attempted to force the victim to engage in sexual intercourse and subjected the victim to unwanted sexual contact at a location in the City of Buffalo. 

Saxbury is scheduled to return on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. before Buffalo City Court Judge Carrie Phillips for a felony hearing. Prosecutors requested that the defendant be held without bail. The court set bail at $75,000 cash, insurance company bail bond or partially secured surety bond. 

A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.   

Acting DA Keane commends members of the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Alexander J. Trunfio of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
