Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 21-year-old Terrance Johnson of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Diane Wray on one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony).
It is alleged that on Monday, January 1, 2024, at approximately 3:23 a.m., the defendant intentionally shot the victim at the intersection of Main and Merrimac streets in the City of Buffalo. The victim, an 18-year-old male, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he later died.
Johnson is scheduled to return on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. for a felony hearing. He was held without bail.
If convicted of the charge, Johnson faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Rebecca L. Schnirel and Justin H. Caldwell of the Homicide Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
