Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Joseph M. Brown, Jr., 39, of Buffalo, was arraigned yesterday morning before Amherst Town Court Justice Jeffrey E. Marion on one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, one count of Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class A misdemeanors) and one count of Exposure of a Person (violation).
It is alleged that on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at approximately 5:40 p.m., police responded after receiving a 911 call about a suspicious male at Amherst State Park on Mill Street in the Village of Williamsville. The defendant is accused of exposing intimate parts of his body in a public place near a juvenile female. The defendant was not known to the victim. It is further alleged that the defendant refused orders by the officers and resisted being handcuffed during his arrest.
Brown is scheduled to return for further proceedings on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. He was released under the supervision of the Probation Department. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
If convicted of the highest charge, Brown faces a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Marquez J. Baez of the Justice Courts Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
