Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 45-year-old Jason P. Sciabarrasi of Amherst was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Debra Givens to 4 years in prison followed by 3 years of post-release supervision.
On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, members of the Amherst Police Department executed a search warrant at the defendant’s home on Guilford Lane in the Town of Amherst. Investigators found two “ghost guns,” several shotguns and rifles, gun parts and a large quantity of ammunition during the search of the residence. The defendant, who did not have a pistol permit, was arrested for possession of illegal firearms.
Sciabarrasi pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony) on August 4, 2023.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney John G. Schoemick of the Major Crimes Unit and Assistant District Attorney Rebecca L. Schnirel of the Homicide Unit.
