Accused Drunk Driver Indicted on Vehicular Homicide Charges for Causing Crash That Killed Two om Another Vehicle

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 29-year-old Marcus Edwards of Buffalo was arraigned on a sealed indictment yesterday morning before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan charging him with multiple counts of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide (Class “B” felonies).

It is alleged that on July 31, 2022 at approximately 1:00 a.m., the defendant was under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his vehicle into another causing the death of both of the occupants on Bailey Avenue in the City of Buffalo.

Edwards was remanded without bail. A return court date has not been scheduled at this time.

 If convicted, Edwards faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.  

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Accident Investigation Unit for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine O. Murray of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
