York Norman

York Norman is professor of Middle Eastern and Eastern European history at Buffalo State University. He specializes in Turkish, Ottoman and Balkan history. Although he currently has been researching the history of Turkish political thought from the Young Turks to the Cold War, he has also done considerable work on Islamization and socio-economic development in Sarajevo from 1461-1604, including a PhD dissertation. He completed his masters degrees at Indiana and Bilkent Universities, and doctorate at Georgetown University. He spent considerable time abroad in both former Yugoslavia and Turkey.
