Legislator Lorigo approves funding to continue School Resource Officer program in Holland Schools

Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo recently approved a contract that will allow the Holland Central School District to continue their School Resource Officer program.

The two-year agreement will provide an Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy in multiple buildings throughout the school district. The District has benefitted from having an officer’s presence on campus since they were first assigned one in 2014.

Legislator Lorigo said, “School resource officers become important figures in the districts they occupy. Not only do they help maintain a safe environment, they are also role models and help facilitate positive relationships between youth and law enforcement. I’m glad the District has seen such a positive impact from having an officer on campus and I am pleased to support another contract.”

The District will reimburse Erie County for the assigned SRO. Additional information on the approved contract can be viewed here.
