2026 Call for Artists

Thank you for your interest in the 2026 Call for Artists presented by the Erie County Arts in Public Places Committee.

Erie County is pleased to announce two new Calls for Artists as part of the Arts in Public Places program, for public art commissions to be installed exclusively at the following Erie County locations:

Submit only one application form, whether applying for one or both locations. Select the desired project location(s) below and complete the corresponding sections.

Please ensure all submission requirements are prepared before you begin the application process. Please follow the guidelines below:

- Text or photographic files are limited to 5 MB in size.
- File names should conform to the following format style: "artistname_photo1" or "artistname_sketch1"
- Acceptable file formats for pictures are: png, jpg, jpeg, tif, pdf, bmp, or gif.
- Acceptable file formats for text documents are: pdf, doc or docx.

Section 1: Artist Proposal

Description of proposed artwork: concept, dimensions, colors, themes

Description of the durability of the materials and maintenance requirements for the artwork to remain in optimal condition.

Description of installation requirements: Indicate if a subterranean preparation such as a concrete footing is required. Indicate if a special surround is required such as gravel, plantings or alteration of the terrain and provide proposed dimensions for these.

f. A project budget including design, engineering, fabrication, equipment and rentals, transportation, installation, insurance, artist’s fees and any and all costs associated with the project. Artists and contractors must be insured. Contractors should be licensed as necessary.

Section 3: Examples of Original Work

Please upload 5 photographic examples of your previous original work and a brief description of each including title, dimensions, medium, year produced, commission dollar amount (if produced as a commission), and 1-2 sentences describing the project and commissioning agency/client, if applicable.
