Legislator Howard Johnson was born and raised in the City of Buffalo.
Howard strongly believes that the renaissance taking place in Buffalo and Erie County should benefit everyone. As a Legislator, Howard is committed to expanding economic opportunities for all residents of his district, especially for minority business owners. He is also passionate about public transportation and knows it is a vital resource allowing residents of the first legislative district to access high-quality goods and services to live healthy, productive lives.
As a veteran of the US Army National Guard (10 years honorable service), he has always been called to public service. He graduated from Buffalo State College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and has previously worked in financial services at M&T Bank and HSBC Bank.
Most recently, Legislator Johnson served as a management consultant for the Erie County Division of Budget and Management.
Legislator Johnson was honored to receive the unanimous endorsement by first legislative district committee members to fill the vacancy in the seat, and he was sworn-in as a Legislator on April 25, 2019 by State Supreme Court Justice E. Jeanette Ogden surrounded by his family and friends.
Legislator Johnson currently chairs the Public Safety, Economic Development, and Minority and Women-Owned Business Committees.
