Late-Season Project Adds Conner to List of Erie County Roads Seeing Work in 2014

ERIE COUNTY, NY— The Erie County Department of Public Works’ Highway Division has announced the completion of strip patching work on Conner Road in the Town of Clarence, as county crews took advantage of good late-season weather to pave approximately 8 feet on each side of the road and spot-patch the road’s center where necessary. Additionally, the end of Conner that meets Stahley Road received approximately 300 feet of full paving, greatly enhancing the 0.8-mile road’s appearance and making the drive on Conner much smoother overall.

“Conner Road can now be added to the lengthy list of county roads that saw some type of road work in 2014, part of my administration’s continuing commitment to providing residents with the best roads possible,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “These improvements will be immediately noticed and appreciated by the residents and motorists on Conner, particularly with the Winter months approaching. Erie County has 2,400 lane miles of road to maintain, including short stretches like Conner, and I commend our highway crews for the tremendous work they’ve been doing.”

The Conner Road repairs are part of the approximately $30 million in road, bridge, and infrastructure projects being conducted by the Poloncarz administration in 2014, and build on a similar investment in 2013 that brings the county’s two-year total investment in roads to nearly $60 million. Over 60 individual projects were conducted in 20 communities across Erie County in 2014, along with numerous smaller road work projects.
