The Erie County Department of Social Services Home Energy Assistance Program (“HEAP”) announces the opening of the 2018 Heating Equipment Clean and Tune program. HEAP is a federally funded energy program intended to provide assistance to low income households to meet their immediate home energy needs. The program is comprised of five benefits, one of which is the Heating Equipment Clean and Tune benefit.
Eligible households can receive energy efficiency services through the Clean and Tune program, which includes the cleaning of primary heating equipment but may also include chimney cleaning, minor repairs, installation of carbon monoxide detectors or programmable thermostats if necessary. An individual may be eligible for this benefit if he or she is the homeowner, his or her gross income is at or below current income guidelines for household size, the primary heating equipment in the home is more than 12 months old, and the heating equipment has not been cleaned within 12 months.
