The following is a statement from Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz:

“Today Erie County District Attorney John Flynn called on the New York Attorney General’s Office to perform a review of the circumstances surrounding the death of Ms. India Cummings, or appoint a special prosecutor to do the same. I agree with District Attorney Flynn and call on the Attorney General to do so. Considering multiple municipalities and entities were involved in the matter starting from Ms. Cummings arrest through her death a thorough and independent examination of the facts surrounding Ms. Cummings’ death is wholly appropriate.”
