Discounted Golf Rates Will Help Show Gratitude Towards Military Veterans
ERIE COUNTY, NY— The Erie County Parks Department plans to offer weekday nine-hole greens fee rates at Elma Meadows Golf Course and a “Thank A Vet” discounted greens fee rate for weekday 18 holes of play at either one of the county’s two golf courses.
With all other nearby golf courses already offering a nine-hole greens fee, introducing the weekday rate to go hand-in-hand with a nine-hole cart fee that is already in place at Elma Meadows will allow the county to meet a demand that is consistent with neighboring facilities. The weekday (excluding holidays) nine-hole greens fee rate will be $14.
The discount for military veterans will be offered at both the Elma Meadows and Grover Cleveland Golf Courses, provided golfers have a “Thank A Vet” discount card, which are available to eligible Erie County residents at the County Clerk’s Office. The weekday (excluding holidays) 18 holes of play rate will be $15.
“Offering the weekday nine-hole rate at Elma Meadows will allow golfers who wish to play only nine holes to do so at a reduced cost, while the ‘Thank A Vet’ discount helps to display our gratitude as a community towards military veterans and hopefully encourage more vets to play golf,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “Under both of these scenarios, we can expect to see an increase in play at both county golf courses.”
“We are pleased to offer military veterans a discount at both of our golf courses and feel it just makes good sense, especially considering the close proximity Grover Cleveland Golf Course is to the Buffalo VA Medical Center,” said Erie County Commissioner of Parks, Recreation & Forestry Troy P. Schinzel. “Providing a nine-hole rate at Elma Meadows Golf Course will allow those with limited time to now be able to enjoy a quality golf experience at a discounted rate that they otherwise may have not been able to take advantage of.”
