Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz has announced his appointment of Jeffrey W. Stone to serve on the Erie Community College Board of Trustees, replacing Dennis Murphy. Mr. Stone’s term will expire on June 30, 2024. A partner in the Real Estate and Finance Practice group in Hodgson Russ’ Buffalo office, Mr. Stone is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Rochester, where he received degrees in history, political science and international relations, and earned Phi Beta Kappa honors. Mr. Stone obtained his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1983 and was admitted to the New York State bar in 1984.

“Jeffrey Stone will bring vast experience, leadership, and strong counsel to the ECC Board of Trustees and I thank him for accepting this appointment to serve our community,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “Volunteering for a Board is an opportunity to work with like-minded individuals to advance and strengthen local organizations for the future, and I highly encourage anyone interested in service to consider volunteering their time and talent. Together, we are moving Erie County forward.”

Stone is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, and has served as trusted bond counsel to most of the school districts in the greater WNY area. He is an active member of the NYS Government Finance Officers Association (sitting as a member of the Western Region Advisory Council for that group) and several local chapters of the NYS Association of School Business Officials. His work as bond counsel is grounded in a thorough understanding of New York State’s Local Finance Law, Town Law, Village Law, Education Law, General Municipal Law and other applicable statutes as well as federal securities laws and the applicable provisions of the Internal Revenue Code.
