Elma Meadows Anticipates Wednesday Opening, Grover Cleveland Weekend Opening Possible
ERIE COUNTY, NY— The Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry has announced that county golf courses are being prepared for the opening of the 2016 golf season, with the Elma Meadows course expected to open by Wednesday, April 20. The Grover Cleveland course currently remains too wet to allow play but Parks personnel are hoping that conditions will permit a weekend opening.
2016 Season golf passes for Erie County’s two courses are also available. Interested golfers should visit the Application link and follow the instructions to get their pass.
“The sun is out and thoughts of spring are in the air, so naturally golfers want to get out and work the rust off of their games. Our Erie County courses give golfers of all skill levels a fun, challenging round,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “Last year golf season extended late into the fall so Erie County golf passes are a great value and will provide opportunities to enjoy a round practically all year long.”
Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Forestry Dan Rizzo added, “Elma Meadows is ready to go and we are monitoring Grover Cleveland every day as conditions continue to dry out, hoping to be able to open there on Saturday if the rain holds off. It is always a good idea to check the weather forecast, especially early in the year, and call the course to check conditions before coming out.”
