Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz and Commissioner of Parks, Recreation & Forestry Daniel J. Rizzo are reminding residents that registration is now underway for the second annual Chestnut Ridge Summer Classic Tennis Tournament and also announce the details of a new family-oriented arts exhibit, both of which will be held at county-owned Chestnut Ridge Park in the Town of Orchard Park.

The second-ever Chestnut Ridge Summer Classic Tennis Tournament will take place from September 8 through September 11. The all-ages event will include play in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

The registration fee for single players is $25 and $12.50 per player for doubles and mixed doubles. Registration is done online by visiting the Chestnut Ridge Conservancy’s website (www.chestnutridgeconservancy.org)

The first-ever “Artify the Park’ will take place at Chestnut Ridge Park on Sunday, September 25 as the Chestnut Ridge Conservancy welcomes local and regional artists, photographers and craftsmen to demonstrate their techniques to the general public. In addition, various hands-on activities that promise to be fun for the whole family will be offered, most of which will be able to be enjoyed at no cost.

Chestnut Ridge Park, which was established in 1926., features 1,231 acres of land that offer impressive views of Lake Erie, Buffalo and Canada. The property includes deep ravines, mature woodlands and the unique natural “Eternal Flame” waterfall.

The Chestnut Ridge Conservancy is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that works closely with the Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry to maintain and make improvements to Chestnut Ridge Park.
