ERIE COUNTY ANNOUNCES ELECTRONIC WASTE COLLECTION EVENT

The Erie County Department of Environment & Planning, in cooperation with the Northwest and Northeast Southtowns Solid Waste Management Boards, is holding a collection event for electronic waste on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at SUNY Erie South.  Registration is required to participate in this collection and participation is limited to the first 400 residents to sign up. To register, please go to www.erie.gov/recycling .  

 

The following items will be accepted:  computers (desktop & laptop); monitors (flat screen & CRT); computer accessories (mice, keyboards, webcams, speakers, microphones); cables & all IT accessories; storage devices (external hard drives, solid state drives, SD cards, memory cards, card readers, etc.); computer power supplies; printers (ink, toner, & cartridges); gaming devices; network devices; computer peripherals; and  circuit boards.

 

***ONLY TWO (2) TVs PER HOUSEHOLD WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THIS EVENT***

 

The following items will NOT be accepted: smoke detectors/carbon monoxide detectors; devices containing liquid mercury (thermostats, switches, medical devices, thermometers); gas powered equipment; CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, and cassette tapes; household hazardous waste; materials containing liquids; Freon-containing devices/materials (refrigerators, air conditioners, de-humidifiers); radioactive materials; PCB-containing materials; large appliances (stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers); batteries (alkaline, wet cell, dry cell); broken/bare CRTs; propane tanks; and wooden speakers.

 

 

ELECTRONIC WASTE COLLECTION EVENT:      ***PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED***

  • ·         SUNY Erie South Campus, 4041 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park

 

    Participants may need to verify that their waste products were generated by households.

 

 

New York State law requires electronic devices, including cell phones, tablet computers, scanners, and televisions to be recycled. E-waste at this event is being collected and recycled by Sunnking, Inc., a local company headquartered in Brockport.
