Swimming Permitted when Lifeguards are on duty; Rules Enforced by EC Parks, Sheriff’s Department, Town of Evans Police
ERIE COUNTY, NY— The Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry has announced hours of operation and expectations for visitors to Bennett Beach, the only swimming beach operated by Erie County and a popular spot for summertime fun.
The beach will be open every day from 10 AM – 7 PM for the summer, beginning this Saturday, June 13 through Monday, September 7, with swimming permitted ONLY when lifeguards are on duty. The gates to the beach parking area will be locked at 7:30 PM.
“We look forward to another great season at Bennett Beach, which is a beautiful spot and a fun way to spend a summer day,” said Troy P. Schinzel, Commissioner of the Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry. “We ask all visitors to please respect the environment, each other, and the beach rules so that all may enjoy the beach, and we thank our partners from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Evans Police Department for their assistance in enforcing the beach and park rules.”
Visitors to Bennett Beach are asked to discard all trash in receptacles provided and also to stay out of dunes and protected areas at the site.
The following are prohibited at Bennett Beach:
- alcohol or glass containers;
- smoking;
- fires or cooking on the beach;
- flotation devices such as lifejackets, floats, tubes, rafts, etc.;
- pets on the beach, and
- loud music.
