Erie County and the WNY BYO Coalition will host an online panel discussion based on a new documentary about the dangers of plastic pollution on Friday, May 29.

The online discussion, which will begin at 12 p.m., will serve as a follow-up to the ongoing virtual screening of “The Story of Plastic.” The documentary film by Deja Schlosberg explores the local and global environmental, climate, justice, and health impacts of the plastic industry.

To access the virtual screening, interested viewers need to register in order to receive an email with a link that will allow the film to be viewed at your leisure. Registration is free and can be done by clicking this link: www.erie.gov/recycling

The panel discussion on May 29 will include Western New York-based experts discussing the impact plastic pollution has on the Great Lakes, society’s over dependence on single-use plastics, recycling myths and other topics related to reducing plastic pollution in our region.
