Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that Orchard Park Town Justice Edward A. Pace has found 75-year-old Richard D. Dobson of East Aurora guilty of one count of Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, a Class “A” misdemeanor.
Judge Pace issued his decision late last week following a one-day bench trial that occurred on March 12, 2020 and spanned into the early morning hours of March 13, 2020.
On April 2, 2018, approximately 11:25 p.m., the defendant was the driver of a vehicle who was uncooperative with officers that were initiating a traffic stop on Southwestern Boulevard in the Town of Orchard Park. When the officers were checking the defendant’s license and registration, he exited his vehicle and refused to follow orders.
Dobson faces a maximum of one year in jail when he is sentenced on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. He remains released on his own recognizance.
DA Flynn commends Officers Ryan Myers and Brian Gehring of the Orchard Park Police Department for their work in the investigation.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Sean B. Bunny of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau.
