Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 34-year-old Brandon R. Campbell of Depew pleaded guilty today before State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to two counts of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, Class “C” felonies.
The defendant admitted that during the early morning hours of April 23, 2020, he was driving on South Transit Road in the Village of Depew when he pulled over near a pedestrian. The defendant called the pedestrian toward his vehicle, displayed a shotgun, and demanded the victim’s wallet and backpack. The victim handed over the possessions and the defendant drove away. The defendant also admitted to attempting to rob a convenience store on Transit Road the following day.
Campbell faces a maximum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced by Judge Michalski on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. He remains released on $7,500 bond posted in Depew Village Court.
DA Flynn commends Detective Rene Smith of the Depew Police Department for his work in the investigation.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan M. Flaherty of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau.
