Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 30-year-old Antonio L. Taylor of Town of Tonawanda was virtually arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns on an indictment charging him with one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “B” felony, one count of Assault in the First Degree, a Class “B” felony, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class “C” felony.
It is alleged that on October 3, 2020, at approximately 2:36 a.m., the defendant intentionally shot a victim multiple times with an illegal firearm on Kensington Avenue and Godfrey Street in the City of Buffalo. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and back, but survived the attack. He continues to recover from his injuries.
The defendant remains released on $300,000 bail previously posted following his arraignment in Buffalo City Court. A return court date has not been scheduled at this time because of in-person court restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
If convicted on all charges, Taylor faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Gun Violence Unit for their work in the investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brian Langenfeld of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Unit.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
