Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 37-year-old Reginald J. Jordan of Buffalo was virtually arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony) and one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” felony).

It is alleged that on September 20, 2019, at approximately 8:50 p.m., first responders went to an apartment on Grote Street in the City of Buffalo for a report of an infant that was not breathing. The child, 6-month-old King Jordan, was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital where he died two days later. The defendant, the child’s father, is accused of shaking the victim and causing blunt force injuries to the child’s head and neck, which resulted in his death. 

Jordan is scheduled to return on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. for motions. He remains held without bail.

If convicted of the charge, Jordan faces up to 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends Detectives Scott Malec and Mark White as well as late Detective Sgt. James Dunham of the Buffalo Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.   

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
