Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 33-year-old Osvaldo Colon-Perez of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to a determinate sentence of one year in prison followed by two years of post-release supervision.

On December 5, 2019, Buffalo Police officers on routine patrol observed the defendant in the driver’s seat of a minivan illegally parked on Hampshire Street. When they approached the vehicle, the officers discovered that the minivan had no registration or insurance. The defendant also had a suspended driver’s license. When the vehicle was in the process of being impounded, the officers found 157 bags of fentanyl while searching the rear hatch area. The defendant admitted that the drugs belonged to him.

Colon-Perez pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class “B” felony) on April 8, 2021. He pleaded guilty to the highest count in the indictment against him.
