Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 22-year-old Dequan I. Richardson and 25-year-old Jonay B. Robinson of Cheektowaga were arraigned this morning before Cheektowaga Town Court Justice David Stevens on the following charges:

• One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class “B” felony)
• One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree (Class “C” felony)
• One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” felony)
• One count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class “E” felony)
• Two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanors)

It is alleged that on July 6, 2021, a search warrant was executed at the defendants’ residence on Slate Creek Drive in the Town of Cheektowaga as part of an ongoing investigation. Investigators allegedly found an illegal pistol and rifle in the apartment. The defendants are also accused of possessing a controlled substance with intent to sell after the search allegedly uncovered a quantity of cocaine, a scale and diluents.

Richardson and Robinson are scheduled to return on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. Justice Stevens set bail at $175,000 bail for both defendants.

If convicted of all charges, Richardson and Robinson face a maximum of 15 years in prison.  

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department and Cheektowaga Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief John P. Feroleto and Assistant District Attorney Brian D. Langenfeld of the Tactical Prosecution Unit.  

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
