Brant Man Indicted for the Murder of Angola Woman

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 38-year-old Keith Renaldo, Jr. of Brant was arraigned this morning before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony).

The defendant is accused of fatally shooting 45-year-old Gina Baca of Angola on June 26, 2021. The victim was found deceased in a wooded area off of Route 438 in the Town of Brant by New York State Police on July 1, 2021. She had been reported missing for several days.

Renaldo is scheduled to return on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. for a pre-trial conference. He remains held without bail.

DA Flynn commends the New York State Police and the Seneca Nation of Indians Marshals for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan D. Haggerty of the Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Matthew S. Szalkowski of the Tactical Prosecution Unit.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
