Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that a 19-year-old female from Niagara Falls was sentenced this morning before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to an indeterminate sentence of 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison. The adolescent offender, who was 17-years-old at the time of the crime, was granted youthful offender status and received the maximum sentence of incarceration.

On May 29, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the adolescent offender fatally stabbed another teenager during an altercation at the Ellicott Street bus station in downtown Buffalo. The victim, a 17-year-old female from Niagara Falls, died from a single stab wound to her upper chest.

The adolescent offender pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony), the only charge in the indictment against her, on January 5, 2022.

DA Flynn commends the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Transit (NFTA) Police Department for their work in the investigation. 

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ashley M. Morgan of the Homicide Unit.
