Buffalo Man Indicted on Manslaughter and Gun Charges for Killing Teen in Reckless Shooting Inside Fisher Street Home

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 21-year-old Kel Leed D. Alexander of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio on an indictment charging him with one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree (Class “C” felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class “E” felony).

It is alleged that on Friday, March 4, 2022, at approximately 7:50 p.m., the defendant recklessly caused the death of a 16-year-old male by firing a single shot from an illegal handgun, which hit the victim on the left side of the head. The incident occurred inside of the defendant’s residence on Fisher Street in the City of Buffalo.

Alexander is scheduled to return on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. for motions. Judge DiTullio continued previously set bail of $100,000.00. The defendant continues to remain in custody.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan D. Haggerty of the Homicide Unit and Assistant District Attorney Nicholas C. Bussi of the Felony Trials Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
