Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 18-year-old female from Buffalo was arraigned this afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan on an indictment charging her with one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (Class “B” violent felony), one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony), and one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony).

It is alleged that shortly after midnight on February 16, 2020, the adolescent offender, with the intent to cause the death of another person, fired multiple shots from an illegal gun into an occupied vehicle on Stratford Road in the City of Buffalo. The adolescent offender was 16-years-old at the time of the alleged crime.

Two people were injured by gunfire. The victims were driven to Buffalo General Hospital in a private vehicle before being transported by ambulance to ECMC to be treated for the injuries.

The adolescent offender is scheduled to return on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. for a pre-trial conference. She was remanded without bail.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief John P. Gerken, Jr. of the Narcotics/Intelligence Unit.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
