Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 48 year old Namon Kitchen of 56 Deerfield Avenue, Buffalo pleaded, as charged, to Strangulation in the Second Degree and Assault in the Third Degree before Supreme Court Justice Deborah Haendiges. These are the highest charges for which Kitchen could have been convicted had he gone to trial.

Kitchen admitted that on October 14, 2011, he attacked his girlfriend in his home on Deerfield Avenue.  He struck her in the face multiple times, causing a severely swollen eye and loose teeth.  Kitchen wrapped a pillowcase through her mouth to muffle her screams and also strangled her, causing her to lose consciousness.  After a concerned neighbor called 911, the victim was able to escape from Kitchen’s home.

An investigation conducted by the Buffalo Police Department determined that Kitchen fled New York State.  He was subsequently arrested approximately five months later in the State of Ohio and brought back to face the charges.

Kitchen faces a maximum prison sentence of 7 years when he is sentenced on October 3, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. before Justice Haendiges.
