Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 54 year old Myra Castleberry, a/k/a “The Hugging Bandit”, of 52 Kilhoffer, Buffalo, will be arraigned at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon before County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case on an indictment charging her with one count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.

It is alleged that on July 22, 2012, in the vicinity of Jim’s Steakout on Allen and Elmwood in Buffalo, Castleberry stole a wallet from a 35 year old victim’s pants pocket as he negotiated a cab fare. 

If convicted of this crime Castleberry faces a maximum prison sentence of 2 – 4 years.
