Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 47 year old Jerome B. Ridgeway a/k/a Jerome Ridgeway of 113 Gorski Street, Buffalo, will be arraigned at 9:30 this morning before Supreme Court Justice Christopher Burns on an indictment charging him with Feloniously Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree, Circumvention of Ignition Interlock Device and Failure to Obey Red Light.
It is alleged that on November 23, 2012 on Baitz Avenue and Clinton Street in Buffalo, Ridgeway was driving while intoxicated. Ridgeway was stopped by Buffalo Police after allegedly running a red light and almost striking a police vehicle. Police discovered his license was revoked because of a prior Aggravated Felony DWI conviction and that the vehicle did not contain an ignition interlock device as required because of his prior conviction. As alleged in the Special Information, Ridgeway was previously convicted on January 4, 2006 of Felony DWI, and again on September 4, 2009 of Aggravated Felony DWI - aggravated meaning he was driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .18% or more and felony meaning he had a prior DWI conviction within the previous ten years.
If convicted of these crimes Ridgeway faces a maximum prison sentence of 2-1/3 to 7 years.
