Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III announced that 50 year old Craig Walek was sentenced to 23 years in state prison and 15 years post release supervision by Supreme Court Justice Penny Wolfgang in connection with his guilty plea, as charged, to two counts of Rape 2nd Degree, one count of Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree, and two counts of Use of A Child in a Sexual Performance, As A Sexually Motivated Felony.

Walek admitted to raping and sodomizing a juvenile between the ages of 12 and 19. Walek, who videotaped his sexual abuse of the victim, also threatened the juvenile into silence by telling her he would post the videos on the internet if she disclosed the abuse to anyone.

The case was successfully prosecuted by ADA Lynette Reda, who is assigned to DA Sedita’s Special Victims Bureau. Praising her efforts, as well as the investigative team from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, DA Sedita stated: “Because of their efforts, another sexual predator has been appropriately removed from civil society.”
